I would probably be a happier, saner, person if I had a conversation with Amy King every week. She just has the right amount of quirkiness mixed with outlandish intelligence that sparks my brain in interesting ways.
Short of those conversation, it is a good thing that she has so many books.
If you are unaware of her as writer for middle grades and Young Adults, you are missing out. She is tremendous and certain won of the worthy inheritors of Mark Twain and Kurt Vonnegut. She proud proclaims that she is a weird writer a certain flair for the surrealistic in her fiction. I couldn't be happier.
Whenever I am in a conversation with people that want to dismiss Young Adult Literature as trivial, I know they have read her work.
If people ask me for recommendations, Amy's books always come to mind.
