First, Carly's book is wonderful. Second, it has so many things going for it is a bit hard to lock it down into one category of fiction. It is, without question, historical fiction. It is also set in a foreign country, Norway in 1904. On top of that, it is a book about friendship, family, LGTBQ issues, animals, and struggling with illnesses and various forms of physical limitations.
The best thing to do is listen to the interview. Carly provides some wonderful information and we have an enlightening discussion.
It is a Monday Motivator for us because this a book you can share with students. We also hope that you use this as a reminder to checkout the other authors interviews that are available on Dr. Bickmore's YA Wednesday YouTube channel.
Another bonus for teachers and readers is that The Reckless Kind is a perfect book for avid readers and for AP Students.
